Access Group was among the main sponsors of this year’s 4th International Mobile Commerce Conference in Pakistan, held on 16th of March 2011 at Sheraton Hotel Karachi. The event primarily addressed the growing impact of mobile usage on Pakistan’s business environment while shedding light on the potential security risks involved. In addition, key speeches were made by notable figures from the industry like Mr. Yaseen Anwar, Deputy Governor(SBP), Dr. Muhammad Yaseen, Chairman (PTA) and Mr. Nadeem Hussain, President & CEO Tameer Microfinance Bank Ltd to name a few.
The conference was mainly organized by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) with United Bank Limited (UBL) being the title sponsor. Mr. Atif Bokhari, President of UBL, gave the welcome address followed by Mr. Hannes van Rensburg, CEO of Fundamo, exclusive technology partners of Access Group. Mr. Hannes spoke on the “Global Banking Trends and Implications for Mobile Banking” during which he expressed his optimism, that with almost all the big banks now offering international standard mobile banking, the landscape of the mobile industry in Pakistan will continue to change over the coming years.
The event was actively attended by leading mobile operators, banks, financial institutions and technology service providers in the country.
